Catch the Wind

This is probably the most meaningful and *purposeful* collection I’ve created thus far. I don’t often share many personal things on this page, but this is a very personal collection that needs the back story. 

As much as I know that I need air to breathe, I know that my need for Jesus in every way goes beyond that. I have had my season of doubt — about my faith, my church, my life — as I think most believers (or even people in general) do at some point. But I absolutely cannot deny the evidence of God that I have seen in my life and in the world around me, in very specific ways. He is true, He is faithful, He is COMING BACK. That is the most exciting thing for me and I honestly can’t wait for the day. 

But there are so many people that still need to hear the Gospel. It is real and it is true and it is life changing and life saving. If you are one of those people, please send me a message — I’m always down to talk about Jesus :) I’m so proud to be a part of a church that consistently strives to seek and save the lost, one person at a time. One person at a time, because that’s how Jesus did it throughout His whole ministry on earth. When it comes to my church, there is no passivity here, only active engagement in the work of spreading the Gospel, which I am just so proud to even get the chance to be a part of. It’s the way it should be everywhere. 

My church, Southeast Christian Church, has a mantra that was established years ago called “Catch the Wind.” This is based on the verse John 3:8: “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” As my pastor often says, one goal of our church is to be constantly ready and willing to raise our sails to be led where the Holy Spirit wants to take us. 

With that in mind, we are collectively doing an initiative for the next two years called MOVE, which stems from Acts 17:28: “For in Him we live and move and have our being.” We have been studying the book of Acts, which, in short, is about the early church and the very first people who “moved” by the influence of the Holy Spirit, for the sake of spreading the Gospel. It is so powerful to study! 

The primary goal of this initiative is NOT money-related, but the secondary goal is a financial one, because frankly, funding helps tremendously when it comes to reaching people. It’s a resource that God has gifted to us that we can choose to use for His glory. There are a number of very specific goals that have been laid out, and very specific commitments made by our church leaders, which is why I can confidently say that every penny of the money made by this collection will be put to use in order to aid in the work of the Holy Spirit through seeking and saving the lost, one person at a time. 

Specifically, the money will go to things like helping equip and establish new foster families, freeing victims of sex trafficking, planting new churches all over, funding recovery group, etc. There are specific numbers and plans that have already begun taking place for these broader statements, but my point in briefly saying them is to share with you how your money (if you choose to purchase one of these pieces) will be impacting ACTUAL individual people. It’s an incredible thing to get to be a part of, I believe :)

“But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, we have given you only what comes from your hand.”

1 Chronicles 29:14

It all belongs to the Lord. I sit here with tears in my eyes as I type this out because I’m truly just so honored that God has stirred my heart and so clearly challenged ME to be a part of this, through the talent HE gifted me with. God is going to accomplish His mission whether or not I choose to be a part of it, but He has invited me in, and that is the biggest honor. I feel so blessed to be a part of this. 

This collection (I pray) won’t end here! This is hopefully the start of something that will continue for the next two years. With these pieces specifically, 100% of your money will be donated directly to my church’s MOVE fund. Shipping and supply costs are on me. I want you guys to know exactly where these funds are going, and it’s straight and fully to helping others through this mission.
